Happy New year everybody from London =)
Beside the touristy areas: quiet places...
... and loads of people and characteristic doubledecker-busses at Oxford Street.
By the way; shot with compact camera ;)

Softstart
Hey there,
as the season is expected to begin straight by first snow I decided to do some "around"-work to get back into business.
I was practicing and improving my skills in analogue photography nearly the whole year, this is also the reason why you havn't heard much from me. I got a darkroom downstairs where I can develope up to 150x100cm prints and larger (if paper available...). Details this direction sometimes later
On Monday, Nov 1st, I was at Tunas to shoot some portraits of him for sponsors and some more for another interesting project, nothing to disclose about that yet ;)
Shooting was a bit tricky 'cause we did it in the emptied swimming pool of the hotel - excuse me, I was in the pool, he was standing outside... there was maybe 1.5m Space to stand and position the lights, was a bit tricky as already said...
I'm pretty satisfied with the images, first because I survived the table-wheelchair-construction in the pool which brought me up to nearly eye-height of Toni and second because I think the shots are usable.
Hope to see you guys in winter, autumn or somewhere/time else

the story of a picture
A friend of mine found one of my photos beneath the christmastree. It's on linen and approximately 30 x 30 cm. Nothing too special you might think.
The big deal with this picture is that it isn't printed but painted. His sister did it by using my photo as a guideline and I have to say for me it looks pretty much like a copy.
... painted by Eva Gfrerer in December 2009
The original was taken by me in Summer 2008 at SnowparkNZ. It got under top 20 at a german photo contest (Peter Christian Schlueschen Stiftung) and was exhibited at Berliner Liste 2008.
... Benjamin Wiedenhofer (one of the other Top 20 guys) at Berliner Liste 2008.
Here you kind find some photos of the pricegiving, unfortunately I wasn't there, but my photo was ;)

And here is a list of the Top 20 Pictures.

Further it won a small community foto-contest and is now on the "cover".
Finally here is the original image, taken in August 2008, riding by Jonas Marcinko, it was a cab 5 by the way, supported by Dane Tudor and shot by me at New Zealand.

A couple of photographers still now have no educated guess how the picture was made, some quite cool theories came up ^^ I'll solve the mystery in my next blog post with an photo shot from a different angle with the same technique...
stay tuned

Winter is coming.
A few weeks ago I made myself a pre-christmas-present - a Bronica SQ-A with two lenses, filmbacks, polaroidback...
Only Problem: The timing was bad - hardly time to deal with photography and if I wasn't on duty the weather was awful.
Nevertheless I managed it finally to expose twelf images and develope my first testfilm. Not too bad I guess for not knowing the camera, but there are still a lot of things to improve, but that's fun anyway. Great camera, I recommend it to everyone who loves film!
Currently I'm doing a bunch of test shots and experiments for the upcoming season, so nothing for you guys to see - tooo bad.
Here are two test images:

bshot magazine
he guys,
I was pretty stressed the last few days because of my magazine (www.bshotmag.com). I'm glad to present the new issue on time, but I think it was too scant this time ;)
Main topic of issue IV is travel photography, there's a tutorial inside, a travel report and a punch of photo series from photographers travelling around the world (Afrika, America, Asia), further a portrait of a german help project for kids, similar to the HELP-Portrait-project that takes place on December 12th all over the globe.
Just check out the latest issue and the older ones, in case you didn't it already.

on duty...
... theoretical. I'm glad influenza wave is over and now the "normal" daily medic routine is back. For this reason I have some time left to blog a little. There are a punch of things going on, regarding publications and stuff.
The December-issue of Skiing is in stores now, containing a four page Interview of mine. Also a free Aestivation-DVD and a lot of other good articles are in it, so I'd recommend you to check it out ;)
Unfortunately I stressed at the moment with the next issue of bshot-magazine (www.bshotmag.com), which will appear online on December 1st. Therefore I havn't had the opportunity to test my new toy. Parts of it are still in its package - so sad!
Here are two snaps of the skiing-article - I tried to get the same face expression as shown on my portrait foto.. pretty weird.

public enemy
I just got message that my website is not available in China. I guess they're fearing my anti-chinese-message that's spread through the pages. Too bad for you China, but I don't publish anything against you - except this.
Thanks Mesum for letting me know...

developing film
Recently I developed the habit to use my Canon F-1 (old analogue baby) as my everytime-with-me-cam. Today I finished another film full of images from scouting activities, some lifestyleshots while shredding by myself and stuff like that.
Attached you guys two of them:
Some scouting activities at Stegenwald. Some locals and a few companies built a new track there. We got there a few days before the grand opening, the "Track closed"-sign wasn't too effective...
Steff Scheibenpflugs lunch was devided into two parts - one for him, one for the jackdaw. Surprisingly chilled little birds up at Dachstein glacier...

big update
I spent the last week updating my website - it took so long, because the flu epidemic has reached Austria and the hospital ward of the Krobatinkaserne. Therefore I had no time to work during military service and spare time is scarce these days.
Most important changes are new pictures and a brandnew navigation system in the two books (action and misc). You just have to click the image you want to view and it'll slide into focus. Also the blog-system is new, I jumped to blogger.com / blogspot.com because a punch of people asked me to, they'd like to follow there and be informed instantly if something new comes up.
I attached a screenshot of the new page - old design, mostly new content. I'll launch it around midday tomorrow.
